Scallion and anise pita toasts

| 1 | tablespoon | Butter |
| 1 | Scallion; minced | |
| ¼ | teaspoon | Anise seed, crushed |
| 2 | 6\" pita loaves halved horizontally | |
Directions
Preheat broiler.
In small saucepan heat butter over moderate heat until foam subsides.
Add scallion and anise seed and cook, stirring, until scallion is slightly softened. Arrange pita halves, rough sides up, on a baking sheet and brush with butter mixture. Season with salt and pepper.
Broil about 4 inches from the heat for 30 seconds, or until golden.
Transfer to a cutting board and cut into 6 wedges.
